Get ready for the Get Fit 5k
The Get Fit 5k on Saturday, June 26th, will be a great opportunity for runners and walkers of all levels. If you start today, you will have just under 6 weeks to get ready for the 5k. You can run (or walk) your first 5k on June 26th, even if you don't run at all today.
Click here for "a basic 5K [training] schedule that assumes you don't run at all yet, and is designed to get you round comfortably, probably with a few short walk breaks." You start with alternating running for a minute with walking for a minute. By the time the Get Fit 5k rolls around, you'll be ready to go.
*As with all new exercise programs, check with your doctor before beginning if you have any health concerns.*

Have you heard?
This Wednesday, May 19th, is opening night for the Crystal City Farmers' Market! Head over to the Grace Presbyterian Church park from 4pm-8pm on Wednesday night to check out all the delicious produce local growers have to offer.
If you are interested in eating more fruits and vegetables, knowing where your food comes from, supporting local farmers, reducing the miles your food travels from field to plate, or just eating fresh, high quality food, farmers' markets are a great resource!
If you find that a once-a-week farmers' market visit is not enough, head over to De Soto on Saturday mornings for the De Soto Farmers' Market.
